The new watermark from garysimon.net.
As you can probably see without much effort, there’s been a lack of posts since last Sunday, February 28. This was in large part due to the birth of our second child last weekend. In addition to that, I’ve been going back and forth in my head about how I want to work on this site going forward, and I just wanted to share some of that here.
For starters, the watermark logo that I purchased is complete and you’ll soon begin to see it on all photos that I own the copyright on. The logo was created by Gary Simon at garysimon.net for $99. It’s fairly simple and straightforward, almost to the point where I feel like I could have come up with it myself, but graphics like this are certainly not my cup of tea.
As far as the site itself goes, I’ve decided to stop the Fave 5 posts as a weekly post. I think trying to conform to that type of post once a week damages the quality of what the post could be, I’m thinking particularly of the Apple iPad post from last month, as an example of when an idea is taken too far and doesn’t really fit the content that’s being tied to it. Beyond that, I’m still planning to do at least three or four posts a week. As of right now, the only guaranteed post that will continue is the Photo of the Week, where I showcase a photo from my portfolio, usually from that week.
Other changes include restructuring and changing the way tags are used, and if I do nothing else, the store page WILL go live this week. Now that I have the watermark ready, I’m also going to refine the portfolio portion of the site, and clear out some of the crap.
Since I’ve decided to put the financial planning classes on hold, I’m hoping to be able to dedicate more time to this site and finally putting it together the way I envision it. In addition to the regular posts, I’ll be going page by page to fine tune things the way I think they should be. Stay tuned for the changes to come, and check back tomorrow with a special post with some photos of the new little guy in the family.
